Furniture care and cleaning

Ancient Egypt is the first civilization to leave behind so many historical and cultural monuments. It was in ancient times that architecture and housing first developed, and this resulted in the development of furniture. Furniture serves us and accompanies us in everyday life. They decorate our apartments, are essential work tools in offices and enable us to logistically arrange items useful on a daily basis. However, in order for our table, wardrobe, chairs, desk or chest of drawers to maintain their nice appearance and serve for many years, it is necessary to clean them properly on a regular basis.

Currently, furniture is made of carpentry boards, chipboards, fiberboards, plywood or plastics. Their surface is finished with varnishes, enamels and covering paints in various colors, e.g. black, white, gray, red. Matte and glossy coatings are used. The most popular are laminated and varnished wooden furniture. The structure of a well-made piece of furniture usually remains durable for a long time, but the surface of such furniture is exposed to scratches, abrasions and discoloration. Some types of furniture show every speck of dust and fingerprints. For such furniture, it is good to use a preparation with antistatic properties that delay dust deposition. Regular use of such a preparation reduces the attraction of dust and dirt, which makes it much easier to keep clean. A furniture cleaning product should help remove dirt and protect the surface layer of the furniture.

Cleaning and caring for furniture – what not to do?

Degreasing preparations should not be used because they may cause cracking. Also, do not use too much water. Wooden furniture is sensitive to moisture, which may cause swelling or deformation.

Furniture cleaning products often include products based on silicone oils. After long-term use of such preparations, if they are not removed from the surface, they may build up. This impregnates dirt, which is a breeding ground for bacteria. It is very difficult to restore such a surface with accumulated silicone oil and dirt to its original condition.

Water-based furniture care preparations with the addition of caring substances

Another solution is to use water-based products with the addition of caring substances. The Clinex brand offers such a product. These are Clinex Delos Shine and Clinex Delos Mat.

Clinex Delos Shine contains emulsified avocado oil and polymers that give the cleaned surface a high shine, protect against dirt deposition, deepen the natural color and protect the structure of the furniture. The product also contains antistatic substances. Effectively removes dust, dirt and fingerprints. The preparation can be used both for glossy wooden and wood-like furniture, and for matte furniture when we want to give it a shine.

However, if we prefer to stick to matte furniture, Clinex Delos Mat is dedicated to such furniture. It is a preparation for daily care of wooden furniture , wood-like furniture and laminated elements. It has antistatic and caring properties.

Regardless of whether we want to achieve the effect of glossy or matte furniture, the most important thing is to use furniture care preparations that will not damage its surface, will protect the structure of the furniture and remove dirt, dust and greasy traces.
